Our Focus Areas
Health
Primary Healthcare Outreach
We deliver essential medical supplies and facilitate mobile clinics to remote Kassanda villages, ensuring basic health services reach those most in need. Our volunteers work alongside local health workers.
Children & Women
Vulnerable Children & Women Support
At HVU, we are dedicated to supporting the most vulnerable children and women connected to HIV/AIDS clinics—providing practical support, dignity, and follow-up care in hard-to-reach communities.
Vulnerabl Children Program (from HIV clinics)
Education & basic needs: School materials (books, pens), school fees support when possible, and meals (breakfast and lunch). We also provide seeds to support home farming.
Medical follow-ups & retention: We follow up with children receiving HIV/AIDS medication, including home visits and reminders for clinic appointments, to support consistent care and retention.
Vulnerable Women Program (6 clinics)
With limited resources, we have supported women from six HIV/AIDS clinics, with about 70 women benefiting.
Financial literacy: One-day clinic-based workshops to build skills, encourage savings groups, and help plan transport for clinic days.
Farming support: Seeds and practical farming support to help women provide for their households and children’s education.
Farming
Sustainable Community Farming
Our farming programs introduce sustainable agricultural practices and provide seeds and tools to local farmers. This boosts food security, improves nutrition, and generates income for families in Kiddukulu village.
Mentorship
Camp Angelina for Girls
Camp Angelina is our annual week-long program for girls impacted by HIV/AIDS. Activities include swimming, sports, debates, mentorship, goat roasting, and memory recording—designed to restore hope, joy, and belonging. The program is implemented by international and local volunteers.

Community Support
Ponny Bukenya’s Day (Birthday for Humanity)
Founded by Ponny Bukenya, who dedicates his personal birthday, monthly salary, and other income to support vulnerable families. Families receive livelihood and household support such as piglets for income generation, mattresses, clothes, bedsheets, saucepans, and other essentials—along with food and moments of celebration that restore dignity and hope.
Lack of Transport
Our biggest challenge is transport. We lack a motorcycle and a double-cabin pickup to reach children and women in hard-to-reach areas, including communities near gold mining areas. Reliable transport would help us follow up medication referrals, reach homes consistently, and support families faster and more safely.
Our Biggest Challenge
Our Valued Supporters
This work is made possible through the sacrifice of our volunteers and the kindness of friends and family of HVU—local and international—who give their time and resources.
Ms. Janste Lieber (Sun City, Arizona)
Ms. Patricia Harpper (Sun City, Arizona)
Ms. Cindy Loverite (South Carolina)
Alfred and Bonnie Scalias (Elkins, West Virginia)
And all our local and international volunteers who give their time and resources.
